He is a Wookiee<\/a>, a tall, hirsute biped and intelligent species from the planet Kashyyyk<\/a>. Chewbacca is the loyal friend and first mate<\/a> of Han Solo<\/a>, and serves as co-pilot on Solo’s spaceship, the Millennium Falcon<\/a><\/i>.[1]<\/a><\/sup> Within the films of the main saga, Chewbacca is portrayed by Peter Mayhew<\/a> in the Star Wars<\/i> on Episodes from III<\/i> to VIII<\/i> (Mayhew shares the role with his body double Joonas Suotamo<\/a> on Episode VII<\/a><\/i> and VIII<\/a><\/i>).
